St. Rose Philippine
Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne joined the Visitation nuns in France at the age of 19. Her name is a combination of Saint Rose of Lima and Saint Philip. During the Reign of Terror, St. Rose Philippine provided care for the sick, hid priests from Revolutionaries, and established a school for poor children. Since childhood she had a strong desire to do missionary work in the New World. She joined the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and arrived in America in 1818. She opened seven schools and also served the Potawatomi Indians. St. Rose Philippine's feast day is November 18th.
