St. Pius X
Pope Saint Pius X is the patron of pilgrims, first communicants, and the diocese of Des Moines, Iowa. He was chosen as the 257th pope in 1903. Pope St. Pius X is especially remembered for his efforts in destroying the last remnants of Jansenism, promoting reading of the Bible by all faithful, and harsh denunciation of Modernism as “the summation of all heresies.” Pope St. Pius X feast day is August 21st.
