St. Josephine Bakhita

Saint Josephine Bakhita is the patron of Sudan. She was born into a wealthy Sudanese family but was kidnapped and sold into slavery. As a slave, St. Josephine Bakhita worked as a servant in Italy until converting in 1890 and joining the Institute of Canossian Daughters of Charity in 1896. Saint Josephine Bakhita was known for her charity towards the poor and suffering. St. Josephine Bakhita's feast day is February 8th.
