St. Hubert
Saint Hubert (656-727) is the patron saint of huntsmen, dogs, opticians, smelters, and mathematicians. A nobleman and avid hunter, one Good Friday, while hunting, he experienced a vision of a crucifix between the antlers of a stag. This conversion experience led him to renounce all of his worldly possessions and join the priesthood. St. Hubert then devoted himself to evangelizing the Ardenne, a rough forested region between France and Germany, by converting pagans and strengthening the Christian presence there. He was successful at predicting his death and died while saying the Our Father. St. Hubert's feast day is November 3rd.
