St. George

St. George was a soldier in the Roman army and is one of the most venerated saints in the Catholic, Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, and the Oriental Orthodox churches. He was martyred in the persecution of Diocletian. Based on a great legend, St. George is often depicted slaying a dragon. He is known as the patron of many causes including soldiers, Boy Scouts, and farmers. His feast day is April 23.
