St. Clare of Assisi
St. Clare was the foundress Poor Clare order of nuns. Clare was inspired by St. Francis, and she resolved to live a humble and simple life as Francis did. She ran away from home, along with several of her sisters, including St. Agnes. In a simple house, Clare started the Poor Clare order, spending most of the days in silence, prayer and fasting. St. Clare is the patroness of sore eyes. Her feast day is celebrated on August 11th.
