St. Bernard of Clairvaux
St. Bernard was born into a noble family, but left it all behind to become a Cistercian monk. Bernard founded many monasteries, and became abbot of the Abbey of Clairveaux. St. Bernard composed many theological works. His reputation of holiness and piety was widely known, yet he acted in modesty and humility in everything. St. Bernard is a Father and Doctor of the Church. He is the patron of beekeepers and candlemakers and his feast day is celebrated on August 20th.
