Social Issues
Often overlooked by Catholics, Catholic Social Teachings are an important part of the Roman Catholic Church. Catholic Social Teaching outlines how Catholics can become Christ’s hands and feet in regards to modern social issues. Ten major themes cover all of the social issues that our families, cities, and country face as we work together to improve lives. The topics include: Dignity of the Human Person, Common Good and Community, Option for the Poor, Rights and Responsibilities, Role of Government and Subsidiarity, Economic Justice, Stewardship of God’s Creation, Promotion of Peace and Disarmament, Participation, and Global Solidarity and Development. These social justice issues are often controversial and require Catholics to educate themselves on the official Catholic Church teaching. Books pertaining to social issues are great resources for staying informed on these important social topics.
