Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (born April 16, 1927) was elected as the successor of Pope St. John Paul II on April 19, 2005, taking the name Pope Benedict XVI. As one of the Church's greatest modern theologians, he has written many important works on Catholic faith and teaching.
