Immaculate Heart of Mary

Devotion to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart is one of the most beloved Marian devotions for Catholics. It is deeply inspired by two verses from the Gospel of Saint Luke—Chapter 2, verse 19: " But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart," and Chapter 2, verse 35:  "...and a sword will pierce your own soul too." Our Lady's holy, virginal heart is usually shown pierced with a sword, surrounded by roses or lilies, and on fire with love for her God.
