Saint Vincent Ferrer was a man constantly on the move.
As a Dominican friar living in the 14th-century, he traveled across Europe on foot, preaching to little country towns and big cities alike.
All this walking could be tedious and tiresome, but St. Vincent didn’t mind. He simly kept walking and kept preaching.
Well, he did have a little help…
Let us tell you a miraculous story:
Once Vincent had to preach in a city quite a distance away. He set out with a group, but somehow they fell behind schedule. This was the Middle Ages, so there were no high-speed trains or Google Maps to tell you when you’d arrive—or that you were late.
Realizing he wouldn’t make it on time, Vincent reportedly turned to his companions and said something saintly like, “Let’s just keep walking and trust in God.”
But here’s where it gets interesting: despite the journey being too long to finish in a day, the group arrived not only on time but early. The people in the town said they’d seen Vincent arrive, go to the church, and begin preaching well before he actually got there.
In other words, he was in two places at once.
Most of us would call it “impossible,” but theologians call this miracle bilocation.
Vincent didn’t stop moving just because he believed he would be late. He kept moving, trusted God to fill in the gap, and apparently, God did just that.
The rest of us probably won’t bilocate anytime soon, but the lesson still holds. When we feel like we’re falling behind—whether spiritually or just in life—it’s often less about running faster and more about walking in the right direction, trusting that God will get us there.
